The solution we devised for this project involved a fusion of 2D animation techniques with craft elements reminiscent of stop motion. To achieve this, we opted to design and animate the characters in a 2D format, ensuring fluidity and expression while maintaining a distinct visual style. For the backgrounds, we introduced DIY elements, such as a meticulously crafted 3D gondola made from paper, drawing inspiration from the iconic Venetian watercraft. This addition not only added depth and authenticity to the scenes but also infused them with a charming handmade aesthetic. To further enhance the atmospheric quality of the animation, we incorporated cotton balls to create a unique texture and sense of volume for the sky, elevating the overall viewing experience for our audience.
Taking on multiple roles within the project, including designer, animator, and director, we led the creative direction from conception to completion. This encompassed tasks such as storyboarding, character design, animation, and video editing, ensuring a cohesive vision and seamless execution throughout the production process. Our collaborative efforts culminated in a captivating animation that surpassed expectations, delivering a memorable and engaging narrative for our audience to enjoy.
